Anne LaFond MSc is the Director of the JSI Center for Health Information, Monitoring and Evaluation (CHIME) and Senior Evaluation Advisor at John Snow, Inc. (JSI). She has engaged with global health research, monitoring and evaluation and program design for 28 years to maximize the use of evidence and learning in addressing health challenges for people in low income settings. Anne currently leads comparative case study research on the role of human centered design (HCD) in maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) programming for the Innovations for MNCH Initiative. She served as Principal Investigator on the Africa Routine Immunization System Essentials Project (ARISE), where she led a study of the drivers of immunization system performance. She is also the author of Sustaining Primary Health Care, a five-country study on local and international health sector investment and its effect on health system sustainability. Anne’s current work focuses on strategic planning for health programs, including theory of change development, capacity building of health sector monitoring and evaluation systems, implementation research, and use of evidence for health system performance improvement. Anne has worked for foundations, international NGOs and donor agencies, and has published on case study methods, immunization acceptability, M&E system capacity building and childhood immunization. She has been with JSI for 17 years and has an MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
