This lightning talk is for people who are interested in developing a vision for the future of MERL based on new open science approaches and innovations in scholarly publishing. While the context of academic research is different, the challenges facing MERL are the same - of producing rigorously developed findings, but also findings that can be shared and built upon.

The “reproducibility crisis” is the most recent challenge for the academic community, but this community is in a constant state of renewal and development. Recent innovations include expanding pre-prints (ArXiv), documenting methodologies (Protocols.io), improving identifiers (ORCID, CrossRef Funder Registry), and ensuring that evaluations are findable and accessible (Digital Object Identifiers, Open Access).
