Just a couple of years ago, the Walmart VP of Food Safety dropped a package of mangos on a conference room table and asked the crowded room to tell him where it was from. It took them 10 days. Two years later, it takes as little as two seconds. How did the company do it?
 
They worked with IBM and their entire supply chain of partners and vendors to create the Food Trust, a global end-end-end blockchain built on the open source Hyperledger Fabric, creating one of the most successful private blockchain implementations to date, which doesn't just work for Walmart, but an entire global network of partners and even competitors.
 
In this lightning talk, IBM's Matt Nelson will offer a glimpse of IBM Food Trust and demonstrate how blockchain is delivering tangible value for the entire food ecosystem.
